Abstract;
Pheocromocytoma cell-3 (PC3TIS21/BTG2) is a key member of an antiproliferative gene family in cellular differentiation. Herein, we report in the expression of PC3 protein in the spiral ganglion cells (SGCs) of the cochlea at embryonic Day 16 (E16), E20, Postnatal Day 4 (P4), and P7: the PC3 expression at E16 and E20 was observed in the cytoplasm of the SGCs; PC3 protein in SGCs in the rat cochlea at E16 and E20, have been translocated from the cytoplasm to the nuclear till P4. Ki-67 expression in the SGCs, which was observed at E16 and E20, disappeared at P4 and P7. Thus, PC3 protein in SGCs, in the cochlea of rats, is translocated from the cytoplasm to the nucleus during the switch from proliferation to differentiation which occurs even in the SGCs in the cochlea. In conclusion, it is suggested that PC3 is deeply associated with the transition from proliferation to differentiation in the SGCs of the cochlea.
